Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item upgrades by +3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the Best item upgrader is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrading level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item upgrader kit and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
