Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers enjoy their key fob's convenient remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their car or start the motor and even locate it with an app for smartphones.

First, place the key fob on a clean work surface with the logo side facing upwards. Find the button that opens it, then wedge an object between the cover and the fob, and pull up carefully.

Unlocking the Door

Volvo's remote keyfobs allow you to unlock your vehicle's doors, tailgate and fuel filler flap with the press of one button. The remote key fobs can also turn on the ignition and set off the alarm. They can also operate the sunroof in the event that it's fitted. You'll never again have to search for your keys or have to worry about locking out of your vehicle.

You may not be aware of certain key fob functions that are hidden. You can use the lock/unlock option manually if your key fob battery fails.

To press the manual lock/unlock switch hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards. Find the black button which is located near the edges of the key fob's body and gently press it to open a cover that conceals a manual key blade. You will require a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip this cover counterclockwise, so that the arrow is aligned with "open."

Beginning the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide a level convenience and functionality that is unmatched by manual keys. But, just like any other battery-powered electronic device key fobs may lose its charge, or cease working after a certain period of time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace its battery.

You can enable this feature using the key fob if the vehicle has a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The vehicle will then cool or heat to the temperature it was set to while parked. It can run for up to 15 minutes.

Using a fingernail, carefully remove the cover from the back of the key fob. Under the cover and on a diagonal at the edge of the body, you will find an unidentified button. Slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and slide off to reveal the manual blade! If you're unable to locate the button, take a look around the now-uncovered manual key access for the lever or slot that is hidden.

Closing the Windows

One of the hidden features on Volvo key fobs is that you can open all windows instantly using them. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or simply when you want to get some fresh air in your cabin while driving.

To unlock your volvo key fob functions you need to press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof if your vehicle comes with one. After you've finished using the vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob to trigger your car's panic alarm. It will sound an intense, enthralling roar which can ct the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't work, the owner's manual should include a method to reset the system.
