Cots 4 Tots - A Charity That Helps Families With Neonatal Intensive Care

The Cots 4 Tots story

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports the Marine Corps toy drive. It provides financial, advisory, administrative logistical, and promotional support to local Toys for Tots Coordinators and a variety of other services that the Marine Corps cannot provide. It also provides educational and informational materials to the public and assists national corporations to incorporate information about Toys for Tots into their paid advertisements, and conducts an annual public education program and publicity.

The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fundraising appeal for Bristol's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael's Hospital. Since its founding, the charity has raised tens of thousands of pounds to support families with sick or premature babies in the West of England and South Wales. Its mission is to provide families with accommodation facilities as well as the latest equipment for the NICU.

One of the main focuses is the Cots For Tots House, a cost-free "home from home" for families who are staying in the hospital. It is located right next to the NICU and allows parents to be close to their infant. Since 2012 the charity has helped more than 2,100 families remain at home.

Families who reside at Cots for Tots House can be reassured that they're not the only ones. They can discuss their experiences with other parents going through the exact same issue. They also have access to a wide range of facilities that will make their stay as comfortable as possible.

The charity also provides musicians who visit the NICU in order to reduce stress and pain for both babies and parents. It has been proven this improves the quality of life both for patients and their families. Music therapy can also decrease the amount of medications needed to treat these children, Cots 4 Tots thereby saving time and money for hospitals. The therapist employs specially designed instruments that resonate and are tuned to specific frequencies, and play soothing tunes to soothe infants. The resonant musical instruments can also help relax fathers and mothers.

She added: "You form friendships here and form a sense community. You also learn to respect each other." They take care of the parents so that they can take care of their children."

Joe Tahan's Furniture's Cots 4 Tots initiative aimed to provide essential sleeping spaces for children who are part of The Neighborhood Center's childcare program has been funded successfully. The Neighborhood Center extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who helped.

The house, which was erected after PS1m was raised locally, allows parents stay close to their sick children while being able cook or wash dishes and also get some sleep. It also gives them the chance to form friendships with other families in a similar situation and help one another.

Natasha Attwood has a special connection to the charity because she stayed in the house with her son Cobie and her daughter Avalon. She calls it "a Godsend". Her daughter and son are now healthy, but she continues to visit them regularly and is thankful to the team that took care of them.
