1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the robot's dustbin after it has filled up.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It could be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean smart robot so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line and is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its self Cleaning Vacuum cleaner-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.

In our tests the i7+ was more agile and docks that charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments and the Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's still enough time to clean most of an average-sized house however, it's not enough to cover every spot (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.

One of the most well-known robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's a great choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up a variety of types of debris and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it isn't equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often is power-depleted before making it back to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and has more advanced automation capabilities and can better move itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, as it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.
