It also was unable to take on dirt that had dried up.

The app is on the basic side, lacking advanced features like multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It works with Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very clear or responsive. Also, it's a bit flaky when it comes to navigating its way back to the charging station after running -- other robots can follow a previous route or even follow a wall around until they get to their home however the RX3 simply bumbles around until it quits and sends a message of failure to your phone.

We also had issues with the intelligent features of the device, namely its mapping feature and digital stay-out zones. While it did a great job of avoiding our furniture legs and shoes, it got easily caught by cables and socks, and couldn't handle the tassels of rug. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 on our best cheap robot vacuum Buy list. Still, with a decent price tag and impressive performance, the Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for an alternative to traditional uprights.
