We asked experts like Ladina Schopf, an interior designer architect, founder, and co-founder of LS Projects, for tips on how to select the best one. They looked at the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency among other factors.

But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. The refrigerator is expensive and I was expecting better.

Aside from that blip the fridge is a great option. It comes with a huge freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door fridges, and it holds a good amount of frozen foods as compared to similar models.

The fridge is equipped with 17 shelves and compartments. The drawers are simple to shut and open, but I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the complete set of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere across the globe. It also offers many options for customization. It also sends you notifications when the door is unlocked, when the freezer or fridge must be defrosted and when the filter has to be changed.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill the option that is that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to choose the number of cups they would like to pour out. It also has an indicator on the fridge display to dlean them regularly to prevent mold growth.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

One of the best features of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is inside the freezer, making it easy to transfer frozen ice to the fridge to use as required. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, as well, such as sliding drawers to help you better organize the placement of items. It also has a large bin that can accommodate plenty of frozen food items as well as an additional ice storage bin.

The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. The handles that are sunken let shorter people open them from the bottom. However, taller people still struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been better if these had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent option for those looking to blend the aesthetics of a French-door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also a bit less than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which can make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a french door fridge small door refrigerator that won't break the bank this Frigidaire is a solid option. It has a simple design that's not as striking visually like some of the competitors but it does have enough features to make it a solid choice. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge ice maker as well as a water dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located above the two crisper bins, is another nice feature. This drawer lets you divert a portion of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, meaning you can keep food items that require extra attention. I've noticed that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the fridge. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray very far from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a great performance but does not quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to a smart thermometer for more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge resistant" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've seen.
