What is Evolution?

The theory of evolution is a branch of science that explains the evolution of genetic characteristics over time. The theory is based on fact that living organisms adapt to their environment which can result in changes in genes or even whole genomes. Over time these changes could result in the emergence of new species. The prevailing theory of evolution is called natural selection, which describes the process that allows people with advantages survive and 에볼루션 무료체험 reproduce more frequently than those with disadvantages. The word "evolution", which comes from Latin for revealing or unrolling, has been used in many different ways as the concept has changed, both in science and elsewhere. What is Creationism?

The most well-known type of creationist is the YEC. They believe that God created the universe in exactly the manner described in the Bible. They believe that the biblical account of six days of creation was true and that the universe and life on Earth were created just recently.

Both forms of creationism deny that scientific principles such as natural selection and abiogenesis can explain the origin of life on Earth. Some creationists accept naturalistic evolution and also special creation and refer to their belief as "theistic evolution." Other creationists believe that God created the universe and all living things in a single event, known as the Great Flood. In general, the creationists are opposed to the teaching of evolution in schools. This is supported by numerous professional organizations, including the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Science Teacher Education, the American Anthropological Association, and the Geological Society of America. However, some scientists and educational institutions are more flexible, and allow for the inclusion of both evolution and creationism in their curriculum.

What exactly is Creationism in Korea?

The publishers of high school textbooks announced recently that they would eliminate the mention of evolution in their books. A group called the Society for Textbook Revise (STR), an independent body that is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research, has led the drive. The focus is now on removing snippets of Darwin's notorious finch research and on human evolution, too.

STR claims to have the backing of 4,000 families as well as individual members. Its goal, it says is to clear the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" that paints a negative view for students. It also seeks to counter the influence of American Creationists in the United States. A survey of biology students teachers revealed that a majority do not believe in the concept of evolution. The reasons for this aren't entirely evident, but they could be due to religious beliefs or the lack of creation scientists in the US.

The KACR has achieved many things in the past through lectures and seminar events. It publishes a bimonthly magazine, Creation, and has published books. One of them was an educational textbook on natural sciences with a cosmological perspective. This led to an interest among college communities. In 1991 an academic and minister started teaching Creation Science in one university, and it is taught until today.

On August 6 and 7 the 7th of August 1993, which coincided with the World Expo opened in Daejeon, KACR held a second International Symposium on Creation Research. Six lecturers from outside the country, including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin, spoke to a crowd of more than a thousand. KACR members and KACR have also given talks on creation science in major seminaries. KACR plans to establish a Creation Science Education Center in the future.
