The Item Upgrader in World of Warcraft

The War Within introduced two gear upgrade currencies: Valorstones and Harbinger Crests. They can be traded at the item upgraders NPCs Cuzolth and Vaskarn.

Each item can be upgraded to the maximum level once for a slot. Upgrades to the slot are cheaper afterward. The pity system, introduced with The War Within, also reduces the extreme variance in upgrades.

Upgrades

Unlike enchantments, which can be added to any item upgrading, upgrades are tied to specific items and are only used on those items. Sets
