The j9+, just like its predecessor, is equipped with iRobot PrecisionVision navigation technology and a camera to detect obstructions in your home. This allows the robot to navigate and avoid furniture, cords, shoes and wires and even pet urine (which it is able to recognize thanks to iRobot's famous P.O.O.P guarantee). The J9+ has a smaller and more furniture-friendly Clean Base.

Once your robot has cleaned an area, it docks at the Clean Base and its dirt bin is automatically empty. The iRobot Home app records the results of each cleaning job and displays clean areas on your map. The app lets you select a specific time for mopping and/or vacuuming.

The iRobot Home App will estimate the time needed to clean when you select a specific cleaning or mopping time. The iRobot App also has an interesting feature called review of images. The robot will take a picture of any obstacle it cannot detect and send it to your to review. You can then mark the object as not being an obstacle or create a Keep-Out Zone around it. The j9+ will then be able to avoid the object in subsequent jobs.

The automatic mopping feature is a major reason why we choose the J9+ to other robot hoover and mop vacuums. The j9+ automatically mops stubborn dirt and debris when you enable SmartScrub in the app. It can also detect and move away from wet spots, coffee spills and grime. The j9+ does not wash its mop pad automatically, unlike some of its competitors, despite having many automated mopping features.
